Glassine, almost Chihuly-like garments, have been created out of deconstructed educational film strips. Dressmaker details include ruffles, corsets, trains, and spaghetti straps, all of which capture and send the light careening in different and reflective directions. The archival materials used to create the dresses tell an artistic story unique to a particular time and place. Here, the ballerina silhouette was constructed out of vintage educational film strips depicting iconic images of the Civil War, Native Americans, and the expansion westward. Dancing Around Words refers to the broken treaties surrounding the wars.
